My sisters and I had quite a Barbie collection as kids. The worst that happened to our Barbies: one white Barbie’s gummy leg got torn at the knee, exposing the wire in there and making it possible to bend her leg backwards in a weird controted way. One day, playing with carbon paper (remember that? The purple paper you’d roll behind a piece of normal paper to make a copy of what you were typing on your now our dated typewriter?) and another white Barbie got a permanent purple stain on her face somehow. The non-white Barbies fared better at our house, among them Julia (based on an African-American nurse in a US tv series) and Hawaiian Barbie (complete with grass skirt).

I was allowed to have 1 but that lady sure had a great collection of shoes.

Those Barbie shoes rocked. I recall chewwing on one as a small child, probably my older sister’s Barbie’s shoe, I have no idea why I did that, sibling rivalry? HAving so many Barbies only harmed me in terms of when I stepped on their accessories with bare feet in shag carpet. You?
