Your life must not be lived in the rain, see Luna Park, you’ll smile again.
The venerable amusement park Luna Park opened its doors in December 1912. Situated on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay in St. Kilda, Melbourne, the surrounding area offers many-a sights as well. St. Kilda used to be a bit rough back in the days and was renowned for its red light district. Over the years, bohemians, artists and all sorts of beach folk moved there, hence it is full of stories to discover (and recently under the thread of gentrification).

Luna Park features the famous Heritage listed Great Scenic Railway. The wooden track is world famous as the world’s oldest continually operating roller coaster. When we were there the roller coaster was closed for maintenance. If you do get to ride it though, you will enjoy scenic views of the park and the bay.
The remarkable Magical Carousel had been manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1913 and is one of the most elaborate in the Southern hemisphere. If you are looking for a seaside getaway, maybe St. Kilda is the place to go?
