Schlager Sunday – Devine (Hipster Edition)

French singer-songwriter Sébastien Tellier entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with “Devine”, a song taken from his album Sexuality. It was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (Daft Punk). He even scored a promo gig with American Apparel in America. “Devine” competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, which probably makes it a Schlager.

The song was the first French entry in English, which was highly controversial. Tellier included French lines in the final performance, as well as bearded background singers. His props were a golf buggy in French Tricolour and a helium globe that he used during his performance. The average hipster must have been too cool to watch the Grand Prix. It only finished on spot 19 (out of 25). Guys, it was handed to you on a plate.

No no no no no no no no I’m…
Looking for a band today
I see the Chivers anyway
Through my eyes.

Oh oh oh I…
I’m alone in life to say
I love the Chivers anyway
‘Cause Chivers look divine.

Look away
They try to find the Milky Way.

They love to drink it everyday.

No no no no no no no you…
You and I, It’s like you said
I’m not a Chivers anyway
You look fine.

Oh oh oh I…
I’m alone in life to say
I love the Chivers anyway
Cause Chivers look divine.

Look away
They try to find the Milky Way.

I…
I’m alone in life to say

I love the Chivers anyway

In your eyes

Oh oh oh I’m…
Looking for a band today
I see the Chivers anyway
I ‘ll be a Chivers guy some day
In my mind.
