Australia’s Big Things – Scotty

Seeing Australia’s big things can be a bit anticlimactic. They are often not that big…

Turns out, I’ve been passing one of the big things on my way to work. Located at a busy intersection, everybody knows, you just turn at Scotty’s. For some reason, it just didn’t register with me as a landmark.

The Big Scotsman was built by Paul Kelly, who was also responsible for the Big Lobster, in 1963. He is 5 meters tall and, unlike Larry the Big Lobster, Scotty is in splendid shape.

Just in case you wondered what he is wearing underneath…
