Hung up on Nostalgia

We seem to be going through a period of nostalgia, and everyone seems to think yesterday was better than today. I don’t think it was, and I would advise you not to wait ten years before admitting today was great. If you’re hung up on nostalgia, pretend today is yesterday and just go out and have one hell of a time.

If you had told me two years ago, I would get excited about piling up groceries to my chin! These days, they use shopping carts to count the number of people in a store. They are also supposed to help you maintain some distance. Since some people stole all shopping trolleys from our nearest grocery store, we are allowed to shop without a trolley. That’s like so totally pre-pandemic!

How odd what one can miss. Does nostalgia grow with Corona age?

  1. I agree with you about that – the past always seems golden, is sometimes tarnished but in our memories are perfect.
[I hope you have no family living in Melbourne with the 6.0 earthquake there today.]

    1. Oh, we’ll have to check on that. Due to the time change, that’s the first time I’ve heard about it!
True with the memories. It’s like a Foto of a winter day and you forget you were freezing and had wet feet but were a lot younger 🙂

      1. Yes, we have short memories sometimes. Came over to see how any family members fared during yesterday’s earthquake in Melbourne and aftershocks today in Victoria. I know you said you lived in Australia as we discussed cutie pie Koala bears, but I didn’t know if there were family members too. Hope you find all is well!

    1. Hi Kiki, laughing is one of the most important things in life and we both know that! So counts! You know you can rely on me for random thoughts. Glad to put a smile on your face!

  2. Can’t argue with that statement! I’ve never been so excited to see bleach and toilet paper well-stocked in the grocery store until now! I feel like I’ve been living in bad sci-fi film for the last two years. 😀

    1. That’s what it felt like to me when I took public transport after months for the first time … Bleach? It’s always interesting what different countries are going for!

      1. I only use bleach for laundry and cleaning the tiles in the bathroom like I always have. But apparently people were using it for all sorts and It was out of stock for some time.
