Welcome to Schlager Sunday! After all that Valentine’s Schmalz, Mickey is the star of the show today. The song by Toni Basil was a huge success on MTV, maybe due to the fact that there were not that many music videos in the early 80s.
The song topped the charts in the US, Canada and Australia. Mickey also made it into the Rolling Stones Reader’s Poll The 10 Worst Songs of the 1980s. Judge for yourself. February is made for sleeping, but this song may get you off the couch.

Thanks for flying with Be Kitschig and have a nice Sunday!

I always liked that song – incredible energy & almost impossible to get the beat out of your head, lol! 😊
I remember the song, but never saw a video for it. Wow … remembered most of the words. I want her energy!
I miss early MTV. such a cool era for new music– even one-song wonders.

Me too! The first thing I did when I came home from school was turning MTV on! Sometimes we get our Daria Box set out 🙂
HAHA! I liked that song in the 80s! And my favourite from the Rolling Stones poll is Men Without Hats Safety Dance! In fact, I have the video which I use for aerobics. 😀 I wonder whatever happened to them?
Hmm well any song that gets sung by the Master in an episode of “Doctor Who” can’t be all bad I guess …
Lulu: “Our Dada says he’s pretty sure he can come up with ten 80s songs that are worse than that one!”
Bring it on! 👏
I have heard far worse songs than that. That to me has always been a catchy tune.
I like it, too. There are probably worse songs out there, altough a few songs from that Rolling Stones list already made it on this blog 🙂
And are they really playing those instruments? Well yes of course they are!
Sure thing!?
