Giant Flowers

With the Giant Flowers, bekitschig.blog is presenting some rather unusual street art this Wednesday. (Which I’ll try to keep reasonably wordless.)

You will find this fun art work by Sergej A. Dott in Berlin Treptower Park, just a few minutes away from East Side Gallery. It’s fun and colorful (and lifts the mood when you’re stuck in traffic).

Altogether, 10 Flowers are dressing up a house that hosts various doctors and a pharmacy. Therefore, Dott chose flowers with medicinal qualities.

The pop artist gave the oversized flowers some jazzy colors. When you slowly walk around the sculptures and enjoy the interplay with shadows and reflecting windows, they are not just decorative but really a source of hope.

While you are at Treptower Park, there are some fun places to hang out next to river Spree but you’re likely to meet half of the people from your plane there. As an alternative, discover the huge park of Treptow, including old Socialist monuments or hire a boat or a paddle boat. You could also visit one of the oldest observatories in Germany or simply enjoy some tree bathing. A great destination for all tourists, that already seen the Brandenburg Gate. Chances are, you might even run into a few real Berliners.

Have a happy Hump Day!

May your week be healthy and productive.

Maybe stop to smell some flowers.

More fun with nature

  1. Love these flowers that are as tall as an office building … very creative. They remind me of the tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk”.

    1. Thanks Linda, I haven’t thought of that one! As you might guess, I’m a big fan of huge things. Australia has some pretty cool landmarks and the States, of course. Though Germany has … drum roll … the biggest coocoo clock in the world 🙂
