Postcards from Berlin East Side Gallery

Welcome to Postcards from East Side Gallery. The original strip of the Berlin Wall lasts approximately 1,3 kilometers. Rumors go it is one of the longest heritage listed monuments worldwide and very likely the longest outdoor museum. You will find pieces of the Wall all over Berlin but this is your go-to place for art lovers.

Pneumohanoiden, Jens-Helge Dahmen

East Side Gallery is close to river Spree and gives you an idea of the size of it all. While I had a little rest, I was looking towards Oberbaumbrücke. To the left you find Friedrichshain in the former East. (The Raw area is close by if you like street art.) To the right you see Kreuzberg in the former West. The ginormous advertisement for credit cards was incredibly confusing. I honestly stared at it for a good 10 minutes and it felt so strangely out of place …

World People, Wir sind ein Volk, Schamil Gimajew

Vergesst mir die Liebe nicht, Henry Schmidt

Wer will, dass die Welt, Elisa Budzinski

Hommage an die junge Generation, Thierry Noir

It is rather difficult to take photos of East Side Gallery. For once, it’s not the tourists, but parking cars and busy lanes, so it is just the way it is. If you were waiting for Thierry Noir, here is one out of a driving car a few weeks earlier.

Buerlinica, Stepahn Jäger (Cacciatore)

Test the best (Test the rest), Birgit Kinder

Doing it cool for East Side, Jim Avignon & friends

Dancing to Freedom, Jolly Kunjappu

Andrey Smolák

    1. Berlin is an amazing place to visit! It’s not like they would let you in at the moment … but maybe you can combine it with your trip to Paris next summer? That seems realistic, hopefully!

      1. Agreed again. Nobody thought this “tiny” little virus would put everything upside down, but next summer seems to stand a realistic chance

  1. Very interesting artwork here Jeanine and I especially liked the profound thoughts. Take heed of them everyone and maybe this world becomes a better place. Yes, the credit card billboard would look out of place. Less obtrusive.

  2. ich glaube, das kann man gar nicht alles jemals sehen und aufnehmen. man nimmt etwas wahr, und erst viel später realisiert man, wie grossartig, gewaltig und stark diese Wandmalereien sind…. Thank you so much for sharing. That was a great trip!

    1. Hi Kiki, thank you for your comment. I was also really taking it in and that huge ad really confused me. Pretty people, (way too close) paying with credit cards seems so out of place there … I also didn’t know that some artists refused to renew their paintings! It is a really interesting place!
