Records of 2021

Inspired by this post, I am (more or less) proudly presenting the records of 2021. Flea markets are a marvelous thing.

Enjoy the covers!

RSF – Elvis – Vanilla Ice – Depeche Mode – OMS – Staying Alive

The Vanilla Ice record is a lot better than you’d think… Occasionally, a decent record snuck in, too.

Right Said Fred – I’m too sexy
OMS – Pretty in Pink

No pink vinyl!

Karel Gott – In mir klingt ein Lied

This record is gold! While the Germans like their Karel Gott more on the Schlager side of things, his cover album shows him wild! Rumors go, the famous singer had a lot more artistic freedom in his home country. Either way, the cover of Paint it Black is wicked.

Tropicana – Let’s Break – You Can Win If You Want

Let’s forget about the single, but the other two records are pretty good. Fun background music for when… what was it called… friends come over.

Modern Talking – You’re my heart, you’re my soul
Melodies of the 20s – Ich hab das Fräulein Helen baden sehen
OMS – Xanadu

This one is great for cleaning. While Xanadu gets a bad wrap, personally, I prefer it over Grease. Both plots are rather … erm … let’s not digress.

Trigger Cut in rather nice sleeve
Gomorrha

Breakdance

Breakdance actually came back to us. Don’t borrow stuff to random neighbors as they tend to move. You know these kinda people, right? If you lend them something, you might just as well wrap it as a gift. Turned out well, eventually…

trashige Schallplatten vom Flohmarkt - David Hasselhoff Schallplatte "David"
David Hasselhoff – David

As for The Hoff, this one goes back to earlier this year when everything slowly opened. Nice flea market find and big kudos for Holy’s Hit Records for not screwing me over on this one! (He may have thought I was a bit nuts though.)

More Music Stuff

Now mind you, we may have bought a few fab records here and there. Plus, I’ve been a good girl and my better half may or may not receive a voucher for a decent record shop for Christmas.

Thanks again for the inspiration. Do yourself a favor and check out Ford’s blogs — for the eye candy The Vintage Toy Adviser and great writing on The Atomic Mage.

  1. Great post. I got Pretty in Pink at a closing down sale and when I got home the record inside was classical music by Bach. Not quite the post punk I was hoping for but a nice listen all the same. 😀

  2. Sounds like you made a great haul at the flea market! Xanadu I have not heard in ages – hmm, maybe something lively to listen to could help me do my housecleaning better. I’ll try it … Hasselhoff’s got dreamy-looking eyes here.

    1. Hi Linda, I was so, so excited about that Hoff record! A few, like Vanilla Ice, actually came to me for free. Some one sorted through his old records and thought he didn’t need ‘those’. Now it’s someone elses treasure 😉

      1. Jeanine – you lucked out for sure. Vanilla Ice kinda fell out of favor here after we found out they lip synced. Before that they were on top of the charts. Oops!

  3. Kitsch indeed. Hasselhof probably wins the first prize. Karel Gott (Never heard of him) looks like a remixed version of Engelbert Humperdinck. Kitschiest name of all… 🙏🏻

    1. Engelbert is also a product of Jack White, who produced David Hasselhoff. Seems like Mr. White has to answer for a lot… I believe Karel actually sold more Albums!

  4. A thousand thanks for the shouts-out Jeanine! 😍🤩😎

As for your vinyl record haul… I can’t find the emojis for ‘jaw dropping’ or ‘salivating’, but I would have picked up every one of those given the chance (apart from RSF – Brexit loving weirdos).

    Faves:
    The Hass.
Breakdancing (so cool you found that!!)
    Xanadu – yes!
Melodies of the 20s… what a crazy cover photo!
Let’s Break – superb cover and look at that drum kit 😍
Pretty in Pink – omg that’s so cool you found that!! I love the John Hughes 1980s era films.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to any other vinyl you pick up in the New Year!

    1. Hi there, well, you sound excited! I wasn’t sure if that selection wasn’t a bit too far out. My better half keeps poitning out that we did get a few real records 🙂 I was excited about Depeche Mode – for free! Black Celebration is a fine album.
To be honest, I wouldn’t have to go to the flea market to show more guilty pleasures, the record shelf would do just fine … I’ll consider sharing! 🙂
