Why Cheri Cheri Lady? This week I realized, that Modern Talking never got a spot on Schlager Sunday, which is outrageous! Enjoy one of the most succesful German bands ever. Erm.

Composer and producer Dieter Bohlen meet Singer Christian Anders and before long, they formed a duet. Even though their record company put in little money for the project, their first single You’re my heart, you’re my soul was a number 1 hit in Germany. The concept is easy, simple English lyrics on some repetetive beat, mixed wit a wee bit of falsetto. Oh, and the lines will rhyme like you wouldn’t believe it.

Modern Talking didn’t just give us Cheri, Cheri Lady and a few other songs. No one can wear lip gloss like Christian Anders. He is still touring today and holds a record for performing at the Kreml 10 times, which is more than any other musician. The sound of Modern Talking shaped Euro-Disco and had a huge effect on Russian and Eastern European music. What is left? A legacy of Dieter Bohlen songs, who is now looking for talent on German TV, secret studio singers and two pretty impressive break-ups. That’s show business.
