It takes time to be a genius

It takes a lot of time to be a genius. You have to sit around so much, doing nothing, really doing nothing.

Gertrude Stein

It takes a lot of time to be a genius

After I had just talked about not wasting time, I came across this quote. But of course. She is probably not talking about procrastinating but the time it takes to do your research or to clear your head in order to experience some sort of inspiration.

So, just in case you didn’t wake up on January 1st like a completely new awesome you, maybe take your time. Nothing is set in stone.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy & creative 2023!

  1. At honestly … „ to sit around so much, doing nothing, really doing nothing“ … that can be really exhausting … more than doing

    1. At work, some people don’t know what to tackle first, others stare at the clock while time doesn’t seem to move. I’m not sure which is worse …

  2. herrliches Zitat – und ich sage immer: Man kann alles beweisen, und das Gegenteil. Oder hier: Man kann alles interpretieren nach seinem Wunsch…. whatever, it’s a great quote, I like your approach to wishing everybody a fab 2023. I wish you too only the best of the experiences, the others tend to turn up unasked anyway! Alles Liebe, Kiki

    1. Lieben Dank Kiki! Das gilt wohl auch für jede Statistik 🙂 Schön, dich zu sehen. Hoffe, du bist gut gerutscht und wünsche dir ein gesundes, creatives & erfolgreiches Jahr

    1. It started with a few hickups! Our landlord is, well, a landlord … Looks like we might have warm water again soon. With all the things happening in the world, you kinda feel like a douche for being grumpy cause you have to boil water … Very grounding in a way. Ease after all

      1. Sorry to hear that – you need a “do over” already! Yes, lack of fresh water or electricity is a pain for sure. Due to our strange weather hot/cold/hot/cold we are having water main breaks. I”ve not lost my water yet, but have no water pressure – open the tap and it’s a trickle. Sigh.

      2. Wish you could just fast forward through this … my last quarter of the year everything seemed to break or was “needy” and needed attention. I was happy to kick 2022 to the curb!

  3. Ah, for me a blissfully boring, non-eventful, stress-free, lazy start to the new year in which I’m almost at the end of my self-imposed “Three month break” from writing and other creative pursuits.
However, I still have to work the day job to pay my ever-increasing bills, but at least on my days off I can vegetate and stew. They say a watched kettle/pot never boils… I’m happy to prove them right for now.
Gertrude rocks! Here’s hoping the genius part can kick in sometime February. Bekitschig rocks too! Thanks as always for your little corner of the kitsch universe 😍🤩😊😎
