Note on the Birth of a Gnome
The Birth of a gnome is an ancient story. Unfortunately, it is somewhat misunderstood. Adults in Germany, for example, like to believe gnomes were made out of clay.
Can you believe that? Imagine how much work that would actually be? Gives you a headache, doesn’t it? While garden gnomes grow on garden gnome trees, obviously, the artisanal explanation is just an alternative version for those so-called grown-ups. Sometimes fake news distorts reality until some people start to actually believe it …
No gnomes were harmed taking these photos.

Brilliant! Though I confess I find gnomes a bit creepy.
Thank you! Yeah, I can see that. I am still convinced they come to life …
My German mother-in-law has a plastic gnome in the typical primary colors of gnome. I used to try and hide ‘him’ because I found ‘him’ so stupid, it was like looking at something straight from a Disneyland souvenier stand for Snow White and the Seven..wait, those were Dwarfs. Anyway, she somehow found ‘him’ (who could actually miss ‘him’ in that glaring yellow jacket) every time. Now she has perched ‘him’ precariously on a fencepost that overlooks a very deep indeed drop into thorny ground cover. It’s almost as if she too would like to be rid of ‘him’ but just can’t bring herself to do the dirty deed. Perhaps Mother Nature, in the form of a gust of wind, will give the ‘guy’ a gusty blow?
Oh hun, just send him to me! Poor guy, ‘he’ would feel so unwanted!
(I understand your pain though.)
We’d give ‘him’ a good home, promise!
I live with a gnome called Henri 😀
He does not seem to be the working kind 😉 Best regards from our gnome Paul!
Love those gnomes! 🌼My mom had them all over her garden. I could never make up my mind which one to get her for her birthday! 🎂Shh! Don’t tell anyone the gnomes took care of her garden at night for her. 🌺
Oh, of course they do! 😉
I had to find the origin of gnomes, so here I am at the post “Birth of a Gnome” … no, I was not offended though you did state a disclaimer I might be offended. I’ve lived in the U,S. too long and am no longer offended by anything?! So I tell you about peanut butter beer and you tell me how gnomes are created. 🙂
And people wonder what’s the point of blogging 😉
Silly people!
